Zovirax cream is used to heal cold sores on your lips and face. It is an antiviral medicine that is helpful to treat these sores caused by herpes simplex viruses. While using Zovirax Cream, you must not use other cosmetics on your face or lips. Be careful while applying this medication; make sure it does not go in your eyes, nose or mouth. If it does enter your eyes, wash them with cool water. This cream is not advisable for children under 12.
Although Zovirax Cream does have certain side effects, they are very rare and minor. You may feel burning or stinging, dry or cracked lips, dryness or itching. These are common and minor side effects of this medicine and are very rare. Some serious side effects which are even more rare include severe allergic reactions like rash, itching, difficulty in breathing, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue and dizziness. Although the chances of these side effects are small, if you do experience any of them, you must consult your doctor.
